Gorlitz Model 6400 Facing Tool is constructed of two major components, a power tool supplied by Milwaukee and one precision machined rotating cutter head. The outside discs are provided with hardened cutting blades, two pieces per disc, rotating at 100 rpm on large diameter air craft type bearings. Long sliding guides attached to the non-rotating center of the cutter head provide a smooth movement and stability during trimming and squaring to both ends of the pipes. The facing tool is capable of resurfacing pipe ends from 2” to 6” in diameter.
It is absolutely essential to resurface both ends of the pipes to produce a perfect match at the pipe ends before heating and butt fusion is commenced.
